Dave, I also have an appreciation for those who have physical handicaps. My grandfather on my mom's side lost his left hand when the cuff of the "gauntlet"-style gloves he was wearing got caught in the snapping rolls of a corn picker. I never knew him when he had his hand. Instead of his left hand, he had a stainless steel hook that he could open and close to grip.
He was a delivery truck driver for a local oil company, as well as raising horses on his farm. While it might have slowed him down, it didn't stop him from attempting most things--and NOBODY could drive a nail like he could! He found a hammer with a slot with two spring-loaded balls in the back just above the claws to hold the nails; he'd load the nail in the hammer, and with a mighty swing he'd start the nail, then flip the hammer around and be driving the nail before most men could even get a nail started.
And he never had to worry about hitting his thumb, either.
