I live just 20 miles from the Great Smoky Mountain Park. If you are going into the mountains, the trees turn sooner at the higher elevations. If you are going to be in the foothills at the lower elevations, the trees will turn a little later. Usually, from the middle of October to the first week of November for the foothills area. The best bet is to call the Great Smoky Mountain Headquarters (865-436-1200) as they usually know when the peaks will be occurring for both the mountains and the foothills.
