The center ring the vanes ride in. Roosa Master injection pumps have a similar fuel pump on the back side. I learned the hard way to write down the rotation settings when I take them apart.
If you look real close you can tell the way they pump. The cage the vanes are contained by can go in either way but the off set is to the left or right. It is that way so for different applications you can change the pump rotation to match your drive.
