I'm using a 1/4 hp motor with a 2 inch pulley. Should use a smaller pulley to slow it down a tick. Start it when mixer is empty and never shut it off. The weight of the motor keeps the belt tight. The wood is about 1 x 4 feet. I attached angle iron to the board. Only one end of the angle iron is bolted to the mixer. I don't fill the mixer all the way full, perhaps a half wheelbarrow full at a time. I start the motor and lift up on the board, then drop it down. Works for my.
