I used to think that helmets were unnecessary. I used to live close to the Kansas/MO border. I went for a ride and took off the 'stupid' helmet in Kansas. Then, on the way back to MO., I had to stop and put it on. A few minutes later, a 16-year-old kid ran a stop sign and I center punched his truck. I went right down on my head. I was unconscious for about 20-30 minutes, but I did wake up. The ER doc said no question I would have been
killed without that helmet as my skull would have hit the pavement and cracked wide open.
