If it ever comes to the point, that I have to pay that much for hay, them my little hobby herd will go bye bye! I am just trying to use the 8 1/2 acres of pasture, to some advantage, instead of mowing it twice a yr. We are blessed with milder winters here in western washington, and 20 round bales will feed my 3 cows, and 3 spring calves, thru the winter.I have a hard time beliving 1800# bales, but have never bought Alfalfa, just local grass hay. My old minnie 335 would bust a stitch if the bales weighed more than 1000#I payed $50 last week, for 20 Orchard grass round bales. $1000.00 for a winter!
