A little different here in the Northeast when the 9N debuted. Most farms were in the range of 40 to 60 acres in size and not all was in cultivation. Most farms only had a single tractor and the more affluent had two. Extremely few large chassis standard tractors sold here. And let's face it a guy would buy a tractor and max it out in terms of acreage covered to have an economic advantage. There are guys today that will buy smaller but rack up the hours as a way to save on purchase cost. It all depends on that farm's labor situation. Nobody is bashing the N series but just pointing out it was not perfect in all situations.
