I grew up with an 8N, and my biggest beef was the non-live PTO and 3 point. I bladed manure all the time on the dairy, and it was a pain to have to take it out of gear and let the clutch out to lift the blade, then clutch back in and put it back in gear to go.
Most people on small places now have a bush-hog type rotary mower, and the transmission-driven PTO makes them not only a pain to operate, but dangerous- the momentum of the blades will push you forward, even when you depress the clutch.
As far as quality they were fine (still a zillion around), and the draft-sensing 3 point was great for plowing.
