Bill O'Reilly has a feature on his show "The O'Reilly Factor" on Fox News called "Watter's World". A young fellow named Jesse Watters goes on the street and questions passers-by on various current events, usually showing the unbelievable ignorance among the proletariate as regards anything substantive.
He went to the beach on July 4th, and asked the young folks about the origins of the celebration of the holiday. There were a few cluefull ones, but the majority showed various states of ignorance. One guy thought "Independence Day" meant independence from having to work, and a young lady's first guess on when we declared independence was 1965. A girl in a red bikini was especially dense.
Later in the program, Bernie Goldberg said, "What really troubles me is that Red Bikini Girl's vote is worth exactly the same as Charles Krauthammer's- now that's just tragic."
