If your dist is in correct condition you will have around 30 some deg advance at full throttle. Youre not going to gain any HP by advancing dist. First are the carbs up to snuff and is the throttle linkage in shape along with the gov so you can even get the 1600 or so RPMs you can even get more RPMs by setting the gov and then changing the spring in the gov. Advancing the spark wont do anything. Sounds like you have a lot to learn about those engines depending on your block you can even go to 135 cu in and 30HP is easy.
