My buddy just replaced the rear shocks on his wife's Astro Van with a pair of coil overs. They often haul supplies for the little restaurant where his fiance works in the back, or the thing is seated to capacity with him, his fiance, and their 6 combined kids. Needless to say old, worn out shocks just weren't cutting it. Since putting the coil overs on it he said the handling and ride was ten times better than it had ever been since they bought the thing.
That said if the make that type of shock to fit your Trailblazer than, in my opinion, it would be well worth the little bit of additional cost to use them. I cheaped out and bought regular shocks for my pickup when the old coil overs went bad and I've regretted it every since. can't wait to wear out the new shocks so I can get another set of good ones to replace them.
