Those small portable gas engine powered pumps (and pretty decent CFM in a big hose/pipe) arent too expensive buttttttttttt look at its cost versus if you will ever use it again or look at the rental cost if this is a one time project or maybe you already own one?????
The smaller CFM electric pumps (kinda like a sump pump) arent too expensive (MUCH cheaper then a gas) but thats gonna take a much longer time (depends on CFM) to pump a lot of volume...
Id say it depends on what you already own???????The rental cost of a gas unit??????? If you can buy a cheap electric or a more expensive gas powered BUT IS IT ANY USE TO YOU IN YEARS TO COME???
I just cant say sittin here, too many unknowns, cost,,,,,,,,how much use in future,,,,,,,,,CFM,,,,,,Total gallons,,,,,,,,rental cost,,,,,,,,,BUTTTTT a cheap electric sump pump type wont set you back much
You mention SOLAR,,,,,they make small 12 VDC pumps but thats awful low CFM, will take forever to drain a pond maybe????? ALSO that would require a decent sized and expensive battery bank and solar panels THAT SOUNDS EXPENSIVE AND OVERKILL TO EVER DRAIN A POND TO ME
I think Id run to the local rental shop and rent a big gas powered pump n be done with it, an electrric powered AC pump would do the trick also, is there AC power close by????
