"GRUNDFOS",(Danish ?), makes them, in 12/24/48 volt DC, and 110/220. Solar ones can run off a small solar panel, and are used in 3rd world rural areas..add a backuo battery, and you can pump at night, or on cloudy days I have a 140 foot deep well with Grundfos 110 volt power..converter box changes to 24 volt DC going to the submergeable unit. In time of power loss, it could be run by 2 12 volt batteries. A great magazine for information is "Home Power", back issues are searchable on the web.
