After a bit of googling, I have determined that Sweetfeet's bike is a late 40s or early 50s Harley 125, which did have the spring suspension. Mine was a 1957, by which time they had gone to a tubular fork. And yes, I suppose the tank did look a bit like a Sportster's. Wish I had it today; they're worth a buck or two.
I had another bike that was even rarer: a Servi-Cycle. It was like a bicycle on steroids; small snuff-can engine, centrifugal clutch that moved a fan belt around a channel on the rear wheel rim. I really wish I had that one back.
