there are at least 2 winch type snowplows in my area, these are mounted to older CJ series jeeps, 5 footers, these 2 are in private use, that is, there used for the ranchers own roads, not to make money commercially, they work fine, but are slower operating than the modern hydraulic versions, advice i can offer, is do not skimp on the winch, this will be 'severe service application" buy a good winch, not chinese junk, for a plow, you wont get a year out of a china special in this application if you live in snow country, also your power cable needs to be 0 or 1 gauge to carry the amps, as well as your tractor battery needs to be the largest capacity that you can fit in the tractor, the charging system needs to be in tip top shape too, or you'll run out of battery with frequent cycling of the winch
