: I had this message on before the crash. : I have a 1945 M Farmall. I tore it apart to fix it up. I've got it all back together again and it runs fine, but I have electrical problems. : When I shut the ignition switch off, it continues to run. : When I got the tractor it had a 12 volt coil & battery, but everything else was still 6 volt. The tractor was also negatively grounded. : Is this tractor supposed to be + or - ground? : Which side of the coil should be hooked to the distributer? : On this model the VR is mounted directly to the generator. There is a terminal on the VR labeled Bat. Is this wire supposed to go to the battery via the ammeter? Or should it run to the ign switch? : Should the coil wire run to the ign switch? : I could go on and on, but I won't. If anyone can help me, I can send you an email with an ascii art wiring diagram. : Thanks Randall: Yes the coil wire should run to the ignition switch. The "BAT" terminal on the regulator connects to the ammeter, the other side of the ammeter hooks to the "always hot" side of the starter switch which also of course connects to the battery. These were + ground. The feed from the ign. switch connects to the "-" side of the coil and the "+" side of the coil goes to the distributor. I hope this helps. Good luck.
