As others have said, drain the oil, look for bad things (a magnet works wonders).
Is the noise always there, or just while in gear and moving?
Does it happen in every gear, does the sound/pitch change between running in each gear?
Could be a bad bearing, answering those questions might help you make an educated guess as to which one.
Be aware though that those transmissions ARE noisy. They whine, sometimes loudly, and that's perfectly normal. Especially in 3rd and 4th.
They have simple straight cut gears - no fancy helical shapes to reduce noise.
The good news is that even if it turns out to be a catastrophic failure of something internal, the super A transmission is very simple and relatively easy to work on.
