Sounds like someone else wanted it more than you did and wanted to see it ASAP. The seller gave you a heads up and that is more than most would do. How do figure he lost $100? I highly doubt you would have just forked over the full asking price either. Did you give him a guarantee you'd buy it for $1500 no matter what? In my experience, if you snooze, you lose. Actually I'm trying to figure out just what you have to complain about. Maybe you should have insisted on going to see it right away if you're so willing to call the seller out? Usually a dozen tire kickers for every serious buyer.
