The people on medicare are not asking for FREE healthcare, they in fact have paid into social security and Medi-care for years, they are just wanting MORE than what they paid in. To compound problems since this was a government program and not private insurance the money that was paid in was not invested and had no real return or growth when it was parked. The problem is everyone WANTS healthcare but no one wants to PAY for it. So much of our healthcare costs are defensive medicine, meaning a Doctor orders a test or procedure to cover his fanny for malpractice. Additionally the cost of malpractice insurance and medical equipment has virtually eliminated the small medical practice, they're all large corporations that will make money and pay for their corporate overhead and force their employees (YOUR DOCTOR) to order more tests and procedures to insure all that nice expensive medical equipment they bought gets used and makes them money.
