Even honest people are being driven to questionable practices now, with nobody keeping their word. He probably figured 1400 in hand is better than 1500 tomorrow that might just not show up. Certainly not great from your standpoint, but I can't hardly blame him. We all know of all the guys who respond to Craiglist ads and then never show up.
