Soil temperature has to be 60 degrees.Test your seed before you plant.Seed over 3 years old is risky. With the high price of seed there can be a lot of old seed repacked.Wife and I have been planting sweet corn for over 50 years. We have tried every variety but has settled on Delectable. It comes up fast,we have some an inch high while Silver Queen in the same block hasent come up.A new corn she tried never cam up, had to be replanted.Delectable is 2 inches high planted the same time.Used buy a 5 lb bag for 5 bucks now it takes 12 bucks to buy a pound.I suspect a lot of old seed is being repacked.Delectable is an 80 day corn, bicolor SE.Trinity is another good 68 day corn.
