Northern Michigan has pretty salty summers too. I though New York was bad with salt use until I spent a few summers in northern Michigan. The brine trucks come every few weeks spreading salt on the dirt roads all summer long. New York use to do it but scaled it back due the complaints of trees dying and water getting polluted. Maybe Michigan is trying to rust cars out faster so Detroit can make a comeback selling new cars?
