: I have a B with a mag and use a 5 foot mower. Cold it starts and runs fine. When pulling it and it warms up it will not idle misses when it pulls down and will not start with the starter but will start if I pull it about 2 feet. plugs wirers and cap are fine. Is it points? and were are they at in the mag? or is it timing? any other ideas? : thanks : onte How long has it been acting like this? The ignition is easy to check - put a timing light on it and see if it is firing at TDC when idling (look through hole in bottom of clutch housing and look forward for index ). It could also be your idle mixture being off. When it warms up the exhaust heats up the intake and the mixture leans out. Try to richen the mixture a little. There is a screw on the carb that does this. Back out until it runs rough then turn in until it runs rough then put right between these two points. Make sure it is warmed up when you do this. You may also have a vacuum leak on the intake - make sure there isn't a leak where the carb bolts on to the manifold and where the manifold bolts onto the head. Check manifold for rusted holes. Make sure your choke is wide open too, if this is hung up it will sit and chug. Check air cleaner, make sure oil is clean. It could also be bad valves, engines don't like to idle if the valves are bad, do a compression check. Hope this helps, Dave G.
