Did you snap the original one where the post is welded to the spindle? if so you cash grind and cut out the old weld and weld it up again with some of your favorite rod. Its just forged steel so no special techniques are needed.
I've got 2 for an1855 waiting for me to do just that when I've got a chance to do it.
I should also add thatif its the same as the 1855's, they use the same spindle on both sides
