Yes, they are turned by big electric gear motor assys, controled by computer and or a live operator that can control one or all of them.
I saw something while driving by a large wind farm in south central ND.
It was one of those very rare ND days where the wind was down near 0. all the wind turbines in sight were parked, pointing to every point of the compass.
I posted that on another site and questioned why the parked wind turbines would be pointing in every point of the compass instead of all pointing to the last viable wind ??
One fellow, who is an engineer and amature radio nut, thought it might be to minimize radio or TV interference to those with the windfarm between them and the TV station.
