Growing to fast

We had a mild winter and a good bit of rain this spring. Everyone was able to get their corn in early. The corn has grown really well and is already tossling. A local farmer tells us that the corn will yeild less than we think because it is growing to fast.(warm weather, plenty of rain)I know that cotton can get "rank" when it gets plenty of water and fertilize but I never heard of corn doing it. Anyone agree with his forecast?
