I've got a very comfortable pair of Red Wing steel toed shoes that have a date on the inside of 2004. I've used them hard and they are still looking good, although I've had to take them in to have the thread on the back side resewed. The worst pair I've owned was a pair of Wolverines, but maybe that was just a bad pair. I've heard people say that the newer Red Wings aren't as good as the older ones, but I plan on keeping mine for awhile.
