It's possible, but one day I was complaining about the problem I have with Queen Anne's Lace in my pastures and hay fields. My Mother-in-law said when she was a school girl whenever they would do road work in the area (and they did a LOT of it around here in the 50s/60s), she would volunteer to go out and throw seeds as part of a "roadside beautification" project. They threw Asparagus seed as well as that dastardly Queen Anne's Lace and some other invasive weeds (er, I mean "flowers"). There is still a large amount of asparagus growing along roadsides in this area from their effort, but nowhere else (except for people's gardens/yards). It survives here when planted, but it doesn't seem to be able to reproduce well on its own.
Anyway, I told my Mother-In-Law that she has a lot of work to do pulling those stinky hay-polluting carrots out of my hay fields to make up for all the damage she caused :)
