Had a customer in for some coach related issues on his class "B" motorhome, the shop I worked for didn't do mechanical, just coach work. The guy mentions his generator doesn't run I look at it for him as a courtesy because we don't do mechanical work. He explains he changed the solenoid on it and and it hasn't started since then, even put another new solenoid in it. I checked the solenoid, it was wired correctly and the tester showed everything to be good. Customer said he had to unhook the generator now or it would drain the battery. Like I said we didn't do that kind of work, weren't licensed to do so so we couldn't bill him and our liability insurance wouldn't cover him so I refer him to a friend that can do the work. Seems when the customer changed the solenoid he lost the screws and used some he had, they were to long and the tail of one of them went into the generator control board and was shorting stuff out.
