You might be right, the color doesn't help. For me those clunky handrails just seem out of place with the otherwise spartan facade of the building. I would probably just replace them with simple pipes and paint them the color of the house - make them visually disappear. I would do something with the door too. Leave it white and paint the trim to match the window trim? Not sure about that. Sometimes it takes a couple of trys with accents, color, etc to get it just right but I have learned that small details can dramatically improve the curb appeal of a building - just like how small details can sometimes make a good looking tractor look great. I do like the looks of the house even as it is.
