Well I pulled the floor pan off so as to get the things better. Found that the forward/reveres shifter was so loose it would let the shaft slide in and then not seem to shift like it should. Tightened up the lock bolt which fits in a cone shape hole and it shifts just fine and is now nice and tight. The guy also wanted me to disable ti diff. lock so I simply removed the small pedal so it could no longer be pushed down
