The adjustability and resolution is much better on scanners today, and prices are down. Most older scanners will not work on Win7, so beware that a good buy is not a lasting one. Adjusting the scan to 300DPI, and sizing the scan by draging the preview is easy and provides good results. Save them as jpg file format, and they will be modest. If sending them is going to happen, Put the resolution at about 100 to 150 on small photos, and 75 to 100 on larger ones. Jim
