Brother-in-law is in the HVAC business. A store had a walk-in that was low on freon. He filled it. A few days later same problem. This went on a few times, each time low on freon. Store owner was getting mad. Brother-in-law added red die to the freon. Next day Owner's son had red die all over his face. Owner was no longer mad at Brother-in-law for not being able to find the leak.
They sell locks to put over the fill valves so kids can't get to the freon. BTW, sniffing freon has been going on for decades.
