Does the remaining coolant look dirty? Most times the Ford's will develop a head gasket leak and allow combustion gasses into the cooling system and they then proceed to push their coolant out the overflow... It's possible that it could be burning some at the same time. Generally coolant in the oil with those things indicates a perforated/pinholed block.... Remove the rad cap and get the engine warmed up... then watch for bubbles and black froth in the rad. That's what you're most likely to find.
