Yep, phishy. I get those texts all the time. Also regularly get calls (though I am on the Do Not Call Registry) on my cell, home and work phones from "Rachel with cardholder services...this is your second and last opportunity to lower your interest rate". But the funny thing is, "Rachel" never mentions what company she is with. NEVER trust any text or phone call about anything "free" or any call asking for personal/account information.
And regarding phone calls - no bank or credit card company, nor the IRS, will call and ask you to give out your account/personal information - they contact you via letters. Only give out personal info of any sort (DOB, soc. sec. #, driver license number, etc.) when YOU are the one who has inititated the phone call and only when calling the number listed on one of your bills or bank papers. A motto to live by: "TRUST NO ONE"...works for me!
