If you are getting it for conceal, get the LCP, light and easy to carry. The judge is like a brick in your pocket.
I find my LCP has quite a bite to it. BUT... it is for carry, not target practice. Again, perfect for concealment.
If you have an exposed holster and are going to carry the judge that way around the farm etc, it would be ok in my opinion.
You being from Illinois don't know your gun laws, other than there super restrictive. I have a CPL, Michigan also is open carry technically if you don't have a CPL, but I wouldn't carry open. Not generally accepted.
My two cents. FWIW, you can still get a LCP for $319 at most places in Michigan.
