as with any machine.. years or age in hours / use / life span is mostly dependent on how the machine was used, cared for and maintained.
I have a 700$ murray rider that is goin on 16/17 ys old.. I give it an oil change a year, clean the air fitler , spark plug, and about every 3 ys new blades. sharpened every spring. still on oem drive belt, but does have a new deck belt. have done a rethread repair on one of the blade spindles.. about 5ys back.. deck is well worn, but not sloppy. tires are balding but still hold air. unit starts up, though old battery ( 2nd one ) from 03 is getting weak.. don't think it will make it past the end of this year.
neighbor has been thru 4 rider mowers in that same time. he does -0- maint on them except for blades.. in fact.. he asked ME do the blades for him last time.. :) ( which I did for him, as he's my neighbor and all )..
point is.. take care of a machine and it will have a better chance of lasting.. thus past use and maint history should help dictate life of a mahcine in question.
