I have a Oliver 1655. I don't trust any of the balls to hold side ways. I have lost too many three point implements with it. I made a big washer that will fit on the out side of the lift arm and around the three point pin. So if the ball tries to come out the washer will stop it.
You got to remember that the newest of those type of lift arms are 30-40 years old and worn. I never trust them to latch and hold.
