I have an Econar brand one. It as put in the 90s and has been mostly trouble free. Sometimes it throws fits when I first try to use it in cooling mode in the summer. When that happens I have to reset it using the circuit breaker and it seems to work fine after that.
I heat almost entirely with wood so it just acts as backup heat most of the time. It sure is nice as an AC unit in the summer though. Seems to take no time at all to cool the whole house down.
The loop on mine isn't anything fancy, just a big long circular trench burying 4 water lines down about 8ft down. It covers about half an acre.
