Well , I remember back in the mid '70,s when them same "speculators" caused the price of navy beans to go up to around $60 a 100 wt. and back down in around 6 mos. Didn't hear too many farmers in our area complaining? Most got 30 bu per acre that year. You do the math. A lot of new tractors / machinery bought that year. Our one neighbor bought a new '76 Caddy with just the headlands! I agree , natural resources and raw food sources should NOT be allowed to trade on the stock markets.
