I like chicken litter, way better than that man made stuff. If you use at least three tons per acre, you will have grass growing like never before. You will need to spray for weeds, they like it to. The smell is not that good for a little while, but good will will more than pay for that. Some people even go at five tons per acre if they own their chicken houses. I just got through having it spread on mine. $975.00 load (25 T) which is pretty steep, but you have to pay for the truck getting to you and the spreader.
It does not go away like the other, need to do it every year for best results. Don't skip a year or so. Went from one bale (6x6) per acre to three per acre in three years. Beware, don't spread in your garden, can not keep the grass out!!!
