Tom, with all due respect, I consider your compassion.
While your experience gives those of us who have a heart some pause for thought, it also has to bring us back to the reality of the moment.
If you don’t know what you are going to do before hand, you probably don’t need the 12 gauge.
One should decide before they are in that situation what he/she would do and then do it.
If you are confronted by an intruder and need to consider his parents feelings or whether or not he is just a teenager, I hope for your wife’s sake he is not armed. While you are considering if this is a threat or not, the perp could be emptying his glock in your chest.
While some may think it is cold or heartless of me, or even chest thumping, I am never out of reach of my firearm and I know in my heart of hearts that I am going to pull the trigger if need be.
God forbid…but I hope the law and the facts work in my favor. I will not be asking an intruder, who just broke into my home, if he wants to hurt me….or not.
He has already broken the law, his intentions are criminal and I am armed to protect me and mine.
