In reply to Russ, if you had done research like you claim to have, you would have found that that small change in design (a byapss through the center of the valve)makes a huge difference in how the valve can be used. A big enough difference to patent I might add. They do work and I have used them for over 20 years on three different submersible wells, one with a heat pump on it. They do exactly what they say they will do, no smoke, mirrors, or snake oil involved.
