In response to the title of your thread, let's think about a few things:
Industry was polluting our environment...Gov't made them stop.
Industry has to pay corporate taxes.....people don't like to pay taxes.
Industry had to deal with labor unions....that costs money.
The industrial revolution in this country was years ago and the factories were outdated and inefficient by today's standards.
On and on.
Overseas......how many problems does that solve for industry?
Seems like a wise business decision.
I read in media hype 20 years ago that America was to become a service society.....guess what folks? How many non-service jobs are out there today and along with that, service jobs usually don't warrant the kind of pay checks manufacturing industry can command regardless of unions or not.
So, we did it to ourselves.
On Chinese copies; what's new and they aren't the only ones that do it......we even do it when we think it will gain us an edge.
