China doesn't recognize patents. That's why they copy everything. Bigger ticket items, the O.E.M.'s will file charges if they are sold in N. America or other countries they have patents in. There are millions of products that have infringed on patents and sold very well. Often for small manufacturers/inventers, the best they can hope for is to have the copied products taken off the market because of patent infringement. In order to sue for damages requires deep pockets. Some people don't bother with the patents because it takes too long and would be easy for someone to copy with no penalty. Instead, they flood the market with their new product and try to sell as many as possible before they are copied. Then 5 or 10 years later someone else re markets almost the exact same thing. I just saw "Vince" is hawking the lint rollers from years ago. What they don't tell you with those is that after 6 month's or so they lose their stickiness and no amount of hot water will restore it.
