If the girl wants to be an opera singer, a voice coach may be a good idea. If she just wants to be a singer who lots of people enjoy and are willing to pay good money to hear, maybe not so much. Voice coaches can help good singers to sing better. There are lots of people who can sing, and sing well. Then there are the unique voices, those that have an indefinable something. It’s these unique voices that make it big in the music world, not the “good” voices. For those uniquely-gifted ones a voice coach will only be attempting to gild the lily, or worse, to mold that singer into the sameness of all other “good” singers in a particular genre. Yes, I remember (Charlotte) Church; I bought her first album. I know she dropped off the scope, but I never knew why.
