73 days now without a cigarette. I had smoked for about 51 years, and only quit one time back in the late 60's for a couple months, then started back again. I was always a heavy smoker, and the last couple of years I had gotten way worse, and noticed my breathing had gotten a lot worse, too. I got patches from the VA. What amazed me was that after only three or four days, the cough and wheezing completely went away. Quitting hasn't really bothered me all that much. I guess the worse time for me is in the morning with the first cup of coffee, as others have said, and I still have an urge once in a while. I had just made up my mind that it was time to quit. Not saying I am out of the woods yet, but have made a good start, and you can too. Best of luck to you.
