You are working with a engine that was designed to burn a low grade fuel. Raising the compression and not using a fuel to balance that will lead to gasket failure. Magneto couplers on those tractors had a 35 deg. advance. You will need to change that to around 25 deg.coupler so you will have some range on your timing. Unstyled "A" has spots in the head that flex & will eventually lead to gasket failure.They need to be reinforced. I personally don't care for copper gaskets. I usually "O" ring the block & head at slightly diff. dia. which gives it a lasting crimp on the stock metal faced gasket. "O" ring wire protrusion should be .005 - .006. If you can come up with better quality head studs it will make it a better job. Email me & I can walk you through it.
