The off-beat stuff always gets more looks. I have a sectioned '48 Hudson coupe, and it always draws a crowd. If everyone who says their uncle had one was telling the truth, the outfit would still be in business. I was between a '68 Chevelle (which eventually won Best in Show) and a '69 Camaro at one show, and folks would walk right by them to look at mine (which isn't nearly as nice, but its "interesting"- an old-timey custom car, in addition to the rarity of Hudsons in general).
The Chebby guys didn't seem amused, so of course I didn't say anything- but one of them came over as we were all packing up to leave- smiled and said "Note to self- don't park next to the hot rod Hudson next time." I was able to stifle myself from saying what another guy had actually said to me on the subject once- "How many tricked-out Chevelles do we actually have to see in a day?"
