Regardless of whether or not you agree with this essay, there never was a "Major Caudill". Like everything else floating around the 'net, it ain't quite so.
It seems this essay was written by a freelance writer named Marko Kloos, not the mythical (and presumably highly decorated) Major Caudill. Kloos posted it on his blog, and it was subsequently published (with proper attribution) in Dillon Precision's "Blue Press". (Dillon makes reloading equipment, and the Blue Press is a combination catalog/magazine they publish.) Soon, the piece was reproduced all over the internet, but attributed to the non-existant Major Caudill.
Things took a strange turn when Ted Nugent chose to quote the essay in one of his books, once again attributed to the mythical Major. Kloos then accused Uncle Ted with plagiarism; Ted settled with Kloos for 400 bucks.
